I am a pianist, guitarist and vocalist based in the East Midlands. I’ve been playing and writing ever since I can remember, and gigging for over 15yrs.
I write songs in some kind of folk/ jazz tradition but mostly I write what sounds good to me and what I enjoy playing! I also write instrumental piano music with a classical or folk feel.
Though currently a solo artist, I have previously enjoyed playing with bands such as Cantaloupe, an infectious pop band drawing influences from afro-pop to krautrock to the avant garde. My vocals featured on the band’s first album ‘Zoetrope’, and the track ‘Labour and Love’ featured on BBC 6Music and Radio 1. I also feature on the Furthest From the Sea album ‘Acoustic Nights at the Bookcafe’ with the track ‘Crossing Circles‘. You can listen to my solo tracks on the Listen tab.
Previous work has included music workshops in singing, songwriting and music technology, and I have a passion for community based arts. I set up the Derby Rock & Pop choir in Sept 2012, now under new leadership since my move further south, and was one of the founders of Derbyshire arts collective Furthest From the Sea.
